"Among
the most sought-after candidates will be speech and language pathologists and special
education teachers. Administrators at eight tables will recruit for the special
education department, which is facing the most critical shortage.
Gwinnett's chief talent scout, Frances Davis, is returning from a recruiting trip
for special education teachers in India this week. The staffing agency IntelAge, which has an office in Atlanta, rounded up foreign
candidates for Davis to interview. Gwinnett hired eight teachers from India this
school year. A similar agency, the Visiting International Faculty Program, has helped Gwinnett
staff vacancies in science, math, foreign language and other areas."
"Gwinnett's starting salary is $34,730 for teachers with a bachelor's degree and
no experience. Gwinnett's highest-paid teacher last school year was paid $85,303,
with almost $11,000 of that coming from supplements. Fifteen Gwinnett principals are paid more than $100,000"
