Shivratri Celebration was a grand Success! |

 Shiv Mandir of Atlanta celebrated the Maha ShivRatri Parva (festival)
on Feb. 18. The Mandir Committee organized Shiv Pooja at the Impact Center
in Global Mall. Over 500 devotees attended the Pooja. Hundreds of other devotees
worshipped and offered prayers at the Mandir itself.
The main Pooja, conducted by Acharya Ved P. Joshi (Mandir’s Priest),
started at 7:30 pm after Dr. Sunit Singhal delivered a brief welcome message.
The main yajmans (sponsors) for the group Pooja were Mrs. and Dr. Rajender
Singh. Shiv Aarti and Bhajans followed by a closing speech by Mr. Alok Gupta concluded
the program. Afterwards, Maha Prasad was served to all devotees.
After the main Pooja, Char Prahar Pooja was conducted which started
around 10 pm in the Mandir and went on all night.
The tireless spirit and dedication of the volunteers, who worked
day and night in the days prior to and on the day itself, made this program possible.
We extend our sincere thanks to all the local businesses and other sponsors who
gave free supplies and donations to make this Pooja a grand success.
Our local Hindu community showed a lot of enthusiasm on this Maha
ShivRatri day as they had to endure long wait times in order to offer their prayers
at the Mandir. The Working Committee and the Board members will keep on working
hard and with the blessings of Bhagwan Shivji, will be able to build a new Mandir
soon. The new Mandir will enable the committee members and others to offer
such services as the Shiv Pooja, Ganesh Pooja, Sri Krishan Janamshtami Pooja etc.
to more devotees in the future. The new Mandir will also serve as a Hindu Cultural
Center, where programs for children, seniors and youth can be offered.
