hi there.

i'm sorry to hear about your current situation. i can imagine it is very difficult for you to stay on track, be financially stable, and do well in school. money often becomes a big issue in education, especially when international tuition is involved.

i think the ideas 4grimmace suggested sound very reasonable. there are a lot of people out there, espeically in the arena of education, who are understanding and willing to help those who need it. try talking again to your advisors and to the international office. find out from other students at your institution what they have done in similar situations in the past, apply for financial aid, get loans...there are quite a few work study programs and student loans available to those who need it.

yes, you have a definite reason for financial assistance, but you have to ask the right people for help. there are many kind people out there, and it is our duty as human beings to help one another out. however, this is a country where money is earned with will power, strength, stability, and knowledge. it is not easy to become highly successful, you have to work for it. if you want to finish your education and do well in life, you have to also work for it.

where this is a will, there is a way. if nothing else, transfer schools. thats always an option.

think about it.

Hello,

The credit card option is perhaps a bit too risky given that the amount involved will be quite sizable. But thanks for the suggestion.
As for the hard work, that is precisely what has kept me going this far. Here are some things that you guys might want to keep in mind while you read my posts:
1. I talked to the international office here and was told that there is nothing they can do about it.
2. I talked to the Bursar's office and got the same reply.
3. Talked to Bursar himself and same reply after countless meetings.
4. As for other students in my situation, well I am the ONLY indian undergrad at this school. All the others are graduate students and get assistantships/research positions/stipends.
5. If I tried to transfer to another place the INS will require me to furnish financial records showing I can pay at that school BEFORE I can transfer. That is an automatic negatory since I do not have the resources to begin with.
In spite of the whole scenario, I am still trying my best to contact various organizations/individuals to help me out somehow. So far I haven't had much luck. I will just keep on trying as far as possible I guess.
I used to write for magazines/school papers and still do sporadically. I could get employed if I was a citizen or a green card holder but being an F1 student I am not allowed to by law. That itself presents a hurdle for me. I refuse to let situations force me to crumble inwards. I came to this country with a firm aim to complete my studies and I will not stop until that is done.

Hi...evolved best...

I am also on F1 students visa.. and i Been thorough this situation last year.. But fortunately one of my friend co-signed a loan for me for a student loan and i could pay my tuition. If you have anyone who is permanent resident or citizen who can co-sign a loan for you...you will be able to pay your fees. I have seen one post by someone and it is very discouraging for you. I would say Just ignore it.. and try your luck...I am sure you will be able to get some financial help from somewhere.

GOOD LUCK...

Hi,

That did put some fresh enthusiasm in me. However, I don't have anyone willing to cosign for me. This one guy was supposed to help me out that way but he was not serious about it. I am still looking around though.
Thanks for the replies so far guys.
