Hey Guys what traits do you think a good girlfriend should possess?


* What do you expect from a woman, and do you think that Desi men views are changing towards women?
* Do men still expect women to be subservient?
* Should women always be there at your every beck and call?
Since the Desi Community is becoming more and more prominent in the American society, and more Desis are adopting the American way of life, i.e. dating, marry out of love, having premarital sex etc.. Do believe the points of view of Desi men have changed towards Desi women. Are men more adaptive to the American Desi woman?

Your opinions are greatly appreciated.

i totally think desi men are overly dominating and controlling. they expect women to cater to their every whim; to cook and clean for them day and night, to not say anything unless asked, to not be a part of the decision making process.
things are changing, but i personally believe that desi men have a long way to go before becoming the modern prince charming.

Desi guys need to step up to the plate and defend themselves.... I guess since no guys have replied then all the stereotypes must be true about Desi men.

I do believe that Desi guys expect too much from Desi women. They expect us to cook, clean and even help take care of them. They always need to be taken care off.... I'm surprised they don't expect us to feed them too.

So you Desi guys out there what do you have to say for yourselves? Are the stereotypes true?

I agree with pretty much everything that has been said. Very few men can actually come out and say "yeah, I am willing to give in." Guys like that women are more open to ideas such as dating, intimacy, going out and being a 'fun' date. The only thing is, when it comes to being just as 'modern' at home, they get all psycho about it. As a woman, I have no problems cooking, cleaning, taking care of my family --- or any other such responsibility. But as a man, don't take advantage of my willingness to live up to my responsibility. Know your boundries. Treat me with the same respect that you'd like, and live up to your responsibilities, just like I do.

And yes, I'd like to see guys come out and say otherwise...very few (if any) of you can. I'll tell you why --- it's in your innate nature to use the modernization of Indian women to get what you want, yet you will always expect your counterpart to behave as the traditional Indian woman. I'm not getting into that equality discussion -- that can be saved for another day. But just understand this --- as a guy, be fair and reasonable. Lose the ego and gain some respect.
