Indian designers to light up NY

Indian FashionLive performances by some of India's leading singers and fashion shows by two of the country's top designers will be the highlights of the annual Bollywood Music and Fashion Awards show slated for November 17 in New Jersey.

Bollywood playback singers Kumar Sanu, Alisha Chinai, Kavita Krishnamurthy and Sukhbir are to serenade the audience at the 5,000-capacity Trump Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City.

Manish Malhotra, a designer who works with Bollywood; Suneet Verma, premier couture designer and Atlanta-based Sushma Patel will showcase their latest collections. Twenty top models from India and the US who will grace the catwalk include Aryan Vaid, the first Indian model to won the Mister International award in 2000.

Six Pack AbsHrithik Roshan and John Abraham flaunt it. Shah Rukh Khan won't stop talking about it, people cannot believe Shekhar Suman has it and everyone else wants it.

We are talking about six-pack abs. For most of us, six-packs are the cans of beer that gangly teenagers in Hollywood movies pick up from grocery stores enroute to raucous parties. Others know a six-pack is something to do with a flat stomach. But what exactly is it? More important, is it really worth all the effort?

US Senate opens with Hindu prayer

Hindu PrayerHistory was created in the United States Senate at 9.30 am on Thursday, when Rajan Zed, the Hindu chaplain of the Indian Association of Northern Nevada, opened the Senate with a Hindu prayer. This is the first such instance since the formation of the powerful Upper House in 1789. Zed was accompanied by his wife Shipa and four of his friends from Virginia.

According to the US Senate web site, 'Throughout the years, the United States Senate has honored the historic separation on Church and State, but not the separation of God and State. During the past 207 years, all sessions of the Senate have been opened with prayer, strongly affirming the Senate's faith in God as sovereign lord of our nation.'
